North Country Theatre presents Nightmares in Norfolk

Oh, Whistle and I’ll Come to You by M. R. James - Adapted by Nobby Dimon

The Signalman by Charles Dickens - Adapted by Simon Corble

Directed by Vivienne Garnett

Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon created the original hilarious adaptation of The 39 Steps which went on to be an international hit. Here they bring different approaches to the challenge of staging the supernatural.

Even the most sceptical, the most rational scientific mind, may have moments– when something happens that seems to defy the laws of nature, when the wild landscapes of our dreams and nightmares seem to intrude on reality, when coincidence seems to be stretched to breaking point.

Tickets: £10 (Under 16 £8)

The Wish House

The North Country Theatre are back in the village hall on Wednesday 19th October at 7:30pm presenting The Wish House. We look forward to welcoming you for a great night out in the dales.

North Country Theatre presents The Wish House.
Based on a short story by Rudyard Kipling
Adapted by Nobby Dimon
Directed by Vivienne Garnett

A sinister story of superstition sacrifice and dirty laundry

Grace Ashcroft might be seen by some as a poor old lady, “a dear old soul”, but the tale she tells of her younger days as a lusty farm girl and the strange sacrifice she made to keep “her” man is by turns hilarious and chilling.

Cold Comfort Farm meets Chaucer’s Wife of Bath meets A Picture of Dorian Gray
in this tongue-in-cheek version of Kipling’s story of obsessive love. This comedy of rural superstition and urban myth is brought to the stage by the company celebrating their 20th anniversary year whose adaptations have ranged from the hilarious The 39 Steps to the scary The Rocking Horse Winner, and most recently the poetic and thought-provoking The Gift of Stones.

Tckets: £10

The village of flint knappers is safe, self satisfied, and inward looking, but a stray arrow, an amputation, and a wild woman from the salt sea marshes bring murder, mystery and cataclysmic change.

Jim Crace’s award-winning historical novel is brought to the stage by the company whose brilliant adaptations have ranged from the hilarious 39 Steps to the scary The Rocking Horse Winner, and most recently the deeply moving A Month in the Country.

Tickets: £10 (Under 16 £8)
